Cool Globes Lake Placid

In 2016 12 globes were on display in Lake Placid, with the majority of them along Mirror Lake. Lake Placid was chosen as an ideal location to display the Cool Globes because of the community’s emphasis on renewable energy and other green initiatives. The village Electric Department has worked closely with the New York Power Authority and NYSERDA to reduce the community’s carbon footprint on initiatives like switching all government buildings, including schools, the library, and municipal structures, to energy-efficient LED lights, and working with NYPA to help residents insulate their homes.
